Now is the time to act! Use the form above to add your name to a letter to your legislator asking them to support reforms
to protect access to healthcare across Washington state.

GET THE FACTS:

  • FACT:

Washington state is one of the worst states in the nation when it comes to reimbursing physicians for the services they provide, in some cases paying below 60% of what Medicare pays, making it financially unsustainable for clinics to continue serving many patients.

  • WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU:

Low reimbursement rates put medical practices, especially in rural areas, at risk of closing or limiting services. This threatens access to care for low-income and vulnerable populations, particularly in counties where a large percentage of residents rely on Medicaid. If providers cannot afford to accept these patients, these individuals will face longer wait times, travel further for care, or go without necessary medical services.

  • WHAT WE CAN DO:

HB 1392 and SB 5372 would provide payment for services on par with what Medicare pays, ensuring that Medicaid patients have improved access to essential services such as primary care, cancer treatments, joint replacements, OB-GYN and well-child care for mothers and babies, X-rays, and more. This change would help ensure providers can continue offering care to Medicaid patients while maintaining financial stability.
